The Saturday Beginner Chess Classes program is run by Coach Christian Whitted and the New York Chess and Games team. Coach Christian has overseen and directed chess and children's enrichment programs in New York since 2009. His team of chess coaches and teachers are experienced professionals that are passionate about creating fun and engaging learning experiences for children.

What ages do you accept for the Saturday Chess Program?
Your child should be at least 4 years old before you sign them up for Saturday Beginner Chess classes. The curriculum, lessons and activities are customized to develop habits and strengthen the cognitive abilities suitable for kids age 4 and older.

How long is my Kids Saturday Chess class term?
Parents can choose between a 4 week or 8 week session term. We will continue to hold a spot for your child for the following term unless you tell us that you are not attending.

How many students per class can participate in my child's Saturday chess program ?
During attendance in your child's Saturday chess program, students are paired up and matched with other students in the class for play and practice. This allows us to maintain a high quality learning environment even with any number of participants. The typical class size is usually around 10 students.

Who are the teachers for my school chess program?
Your Saturday Chess Program teachers are well trained, experienced chess teaching professionals who are good chess players and great at keeping children engaged and interested in chess lessons and activities. All of our instructors teach chess in public and private schools during the week and are carefully background checked and trained.
